Raise Awareness for Pastoral Care

Paul was inspired to write and raise awareness of the pain in pastoral care. We believe that type of awareness is needed now more than ever! What do you know about helping your pastor meet his need?

“For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble...that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life” (2 Cor. 1:8).

Provide Friendship, Encouragement, Advice and Counselling.

Sometimes, younger pastors go through serious problems while in ministry. The stories are endless; a diagnosis of cancer, a sick child needing expensive surgery, a church split or a terrible car accident or loss of a child, parent, etc. Life is not easy for any of us. However , many church members, have resources through their jobs for help. Most pastors do not and Shepherds Watchmen tries to raise funds to help younger pastors and their families when crises come into their life. Will you consider helping us help the Lord’s Shepherds as opportunities arise?

“I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that your care for me has flourished again, though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity (Phil 4:10).

Provide Resources for Rest, Recovery, and Resilience

We are searching to find the people, churches, and Christian companies, individuals that God has already called and equipped to join with us in meeting unknown needs of God’s Shepherds. As we learn of opportunities to help meet a need, we will pass that information on so that others can join with us in meeting needs in the lives of God’s servants, their wives and their children.

“For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward (Mark 9:41).”

Provide Financial Assistance for retired ministers & their widows

Some pastors do not have retirement benefits. Many served for years on meager incomes, living in church owned parsonages, barely scraping by. Many also were taught to take the exemption from Social Security to help churches save money and taxes. Now, they need help to get by. There are countless stories of such sacrifices. I personally know of pastors, who sacrificed everything they had to be build churches and to preach the gospel. Some larger churches have put aside a retirement for their pastors but still 95 percent of American churches are small and most cannot afford to provide a retirement income for their pastors. Shepherds Watchmen is raising funds to help older pastors and/or their widows who are now in need.

“He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward (Matt 10:41).”
